My name is Timothy Dale Hammond. I am a creator of images, eager explorer. An intrinsic passion for photography and travel energizes my innermost self.
In July of 1955 my forty two year old mother chose Timothy for my given name. During her time in North Dakota she enjoyed gazing over the endless rolling hills where local farmers grew timothy hay. Dale was selected for my middle name because my parents lived in a tiny mobile home near Riverdale, North Dakota. Apparently, after six previous children they needed to become more creative in naming their completely unexpected caboose!
Over the last couple decades I’ve pondered the origin of my love of photography and travel. Not surprisingly the answer was discovered through introspection and open minded dialog with long tucked away childhood memories.
My parents gave me countless treasures in my life. One small, yet significant item was a Polaroid instant camera. Another was the lifelong love of travel. Equipped with a new camera, plenty of film and youthful exuberance I became the official family photographer. It was my assignment to document our travels with my instant black and white photos. The little Polaroids were stored in inexpensive but hugely important photo albums. I still remember kind encouraging words from my mother and little approving chuckles from my father as they lovingly reviewed my photos.
Now the Polaroid photos and inexpensive albums are a lovely memory. They’ve naturally been replaced by websites, Instagram, art gallery walls and blogs. The Polaroid progressed long ago to high tech digital cameras.
My mother and father’s inspirational accolades were fertile seeds of artistic creativity planted in my youthful soul all those years ago. They nourished an enduring love of photography and a desire to always select subjects and create images worthy of their praise.
Welcome to Timothy Dale Travels - A website where meaningful, sincere photography will be shared.
